This piece was later performed by the late Robert Black during his First Fridays with Robert Black Bang on a Can series in 2021. “This piece sounds like it’s only just starting,” he’d said during one of our rehearsals over Zoom, and he encouraged me to expand it, which I told him I’d certainly do and that I would keep him updated on its progress. Unfortunately, I did not get to it before his passing in 2023. I still haven’t managed to continue this work, but if I ever do, the extended version will be created in memory of his care and his kindness.
